District 6's Small Area Plan 

District 6 is finalizing the 40-acre study, and District Plan consolidation.The plan is looking at the area in District 6 where residential properties and industrial properties are neighbors. The plan will look at what works well in the area and where there is room for improvement and make priorities for future implementation based on this information.

In late 2010 a resident survey was sent out to those who live in properties adjacent to the industrial sites in the area. Residents were surveyed on livability, transportation, and the industrial sites of the area. Industrial owners were also contacted and invited to a focus group, to collect input regarding the neighborhood, their businesses, and how the two interact.

In early January 2011, a community meeting was held, where Tim Quan presented his findings from the survey and focus group and his additional research of other cities with similar industrial and residential areas that operate in such close vicinity. View a pdf of his presentation here.

The Small Area Plan boundaries are:

W: Dale Street
N: Front Avenue
E: Rice Street
S: Burlington Northern Railroad Tracks
The area also includes land southeast of Sycamore and Rice Street over to Cortland Place.
